BANBAN is the first authentic Korean Fried Chicken in the Durham Region since 2021. BANBAN means half and half in Korean, which often refers to chicken that is served half original and half with sauce.

My family started BANBAN Korean Fried Chicken restaurant in the last quarter of 2021. Korean Fried Chicken is our primary focus, putting the spotlight on Korean Fried Chicken on our menu. It has become popular over the past few years, and at one point, customers had to order days in advance to get their Korean Fried Chicken from BANBAN.

The owner’s son and his girlfriend, of Korean descent and the daughter of a family that has owned a Korean Fried Chicken restaurant in Korea for generations, both graduated from the most prestigious culinary schools in Canada. After gaining their diplomas, they were the ones who encouraged the family to switch our small business to a Korean Fried Chicken concept, as there was no Korean Fried Chicken restaurant in the Durham Region at that time. They both developed the recipe and menu from the ground up, and my whole family gave all the support needed to achieve this goal.
